The Milwards from Australia who purchased a van from us last year continue their Eurotrip..

May 10, 2016

Our second trip to Europe in our motorhome is well underway.  We feel like old hands at travelling now.

This year we have spent our time so far in Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. We left our motorhome on a camping ground in Madrid and flew to Morocco for 2 weeks to join a guided tour, which we loved. When we returned to Madrid, our mobile home was waiting for us to continue our travels. It was great to be back in our own “home” as we call the mobile camper.

We travelled to a number of interesting places in Portugal. These included the Chapel of Bones. From our understanding, the bones were removed from graves some hundreds of years ago and used to line the walls and ceiling of the Chapel. We couldn’t find out why.

We found Spain had so much to offer with its diversity of historical structures, buildings and history. Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia (Cathedral) amazed us. We spent 1 & 1/2 hours inside, mesmerized by the building. A visit to Salvador Dali’s museum gave us an insight to his mind. We drove through a range of landscapes, all beautiful for different reasons.

Italy has so much to see. We made the best use of the time that we had. Of course you have to see the famous places like Rome’s Colosseum and the Vatican, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Pompeii, but Italy is full of amazing buildings and beautiful scenes. We travelled through the Dolomites under blue skies. The rugged outcrops of mountains with the snow made it easy to take great photos.

We love having our own mobile home so we can travel where we want and stop when we want. We also enjoy having the ability to prepare our own food. When travelling for long periods of time, we feel the need to have home cooked food, but always have some wine, cheese and bread on hand if we don’t want to cook.

Our travels over the next few months will take us through Belgium, the Netherlands and then we will head up to Norway via Denmark and Sweden. There is so much to see and learn!
