Sat Navs for motorhomes may warrant a second look

February 13, 2019

In response to my blog from a few weeks ago, explaining why you should never set off in a campervan without a good map/atlas, I received an email from one of our English clients telling me I should look into some of the latest Sat Navs that are designed for use in a motorhome.

It’s official, I am a dinosaur but I still say you need a map and atlas to give you the full picture. However, I must admit that it would appear that motorhome-friendly Sat Navs have come a long way since we last trialled them and I think they might take more of the navigational strain than I suggested.

The most useful of these special Sat Nav’s are not cheap but if you are embarking on a big European trip to pastures new, they may be worth the investment with features like campsite databases, custom setting options (to give you routes tailored to your vehicle dimensions), live parking info, integrated dashcams and Bluetooth to connect to your sound system.

Don't aim for perfection when navigating. Getting lost is usually when you'll see the most unexpected delights & have the best experiences on a European motorhome trip

Our helpful English client gave us this link to a review website that compares motorhome friendly Sat Nav’s (It is a UK website so prices are in £GBP but you should be able to order any of the units mentioned online anywhere).

However you choose to navigate, spring is fast approaching and the open road beckons so grab your nearest and dearest, load up your camper and head off on a tour through Europe during the best three seasons of the year.
