Some of our motorhomes are moving to The Republic of Ireland!

We have always had a steady of flow of clients from long-haul overseas destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA but this year we are selling campervans and motorhomes to clients from The Republic of Ireland. We were a little mystified by this trend until our last two clients explained that vans are much less expensive here in France and the choice of models is bigger.

Apparently, French motorhome prices are significantly lower than Irish prices so if you are going to spend much of your time touring France or the continent and are happy to have a left hand drive vehicle, buying in France and registering/insuring in Ireland looks like a cost effective route to ownership. The range of available, second-hand models is vast in France because campervanning is a huge national obsession here and all of the continental manufacturers are well represented.

Before this year we had a large number of enquiries from Ireland but potential clients were complaining they could not find an insurer who would offer cover for the journey from our depot to Ireland whilst the van would still be on French plates.
